Read my blog: "The Story Behind the Story" - There is so much excitement around the self-publication of this children’s book. It has received a lot of positive comments. (See end of this article). When my children were small and adjusting to the addition of another sibling, I recalled the uncertainty that they experienced. Will I be as important to my Mom and Dad as I was before? Will my Grandparents still think that I am special or will everyone be taken up with the new baby? ........ visit link above to read the full blog post.

Here are some of the wonderful reviews I've received:

I absolutely loved this book! The story is told from an older sibling’s perspective, taking the reader through a journey of feelings and experiences, when a new baby joins the family. It tells of the challenges and emotions the older sibling feels when they have to share some of the attention. But then we also discover how nice it is to have a younger brother, someone to do things together with, and how good it feels to be able to teach your little brother things like how to build a snowman. I thought this book was amazingly insightful and accurately captured so many of the things that an older child goes through when a new baby comes along. The illustrations are adorable, and complement the story giving the reader warm feelings of a loving family. It’s a book you can read over and over, and each time pick up additional subtle messages and lessons. It’s truly a wonderful story, that everyone will enjoy. ~Deb K.

I just got done reading this book again and some things strike me each time I read it. First, each page leaves an opening for discussing feelings and it is quite age appropriate for a 1 year old to a 10 year old. Next, the development of the relationship between the older brother and younger brother is just precious (and very similar to what occurred for my 2 sons!). All through the book, real feelings are presented in a positive light to encourage growth through all the different feelings experienced! From ‘selfish’ thoughts to mature ‘sharing’ thoughts, this book really is a delightful and positive tool for an expanding family! ~Kathy B.

It is such a pleasure to read this endearing book to a child. It can prepare an older child to welcoming a new sibling into their family. So enlightening from the child's viewpoint. As a Grandparent it gave me a chuckle & still warmed my heart. I recommend this delightful book to anyone expecting a new bundle of joy into their family. It will become "Their book", just for them. ~Bobbie G.

This book is very endearing and sweet. It shows the perspective of a new baby from his older brother. I enjoyed the book because it shows that new babies aren’t just big adjustments for the parents but also did the brothers and sisters. The opinion changed from not knowing what to think about Garrett and feeling like he needed to adapt or give up time or toys to appreciating having a brother and wanting to play with his trucks with him or build a snowman. ~Debbie H.

“We Have a New Baby at Our House”, written by Mrs. Charlotte Caminos, is a wonderful read that goes into the emotions that a first-born child and family often experience when expecting a new child and sibling. This book hits home about the change in dynamics and shift that occurs within the family structure. Now the older sibling has to learn to share his or her attention with their new sibling and the family has to adapt to caring for a new child. This is quite a difference in the child’s world that he or she is learning to live with when having a new brother or sister. The change can be very dramatic and challenging and this book demonstrates very well the stages of experiences that the family and oldest child are going through. ~Dr. Jesse Glassman, PsyD., ABSNP

This is one of the best children’s books I’ve read dealing with a new baby coming home. The book really captures what older siblings are thinking and feeling. So many people that I’ve known throughout my life have always talked about what it was like bringing a new baby home, and how hard it was sometimes. Dealing with jealousy, splitting the time up with the kids, or just plain being a parent again. This book touches on all of that. A must read for anyone adding a new family member. I found it on Etsy. ~Greg M.

Hey, this is wonderful. When I first noticed the book cover, I looked twice because, of course, I knew you in a very different context. You've done a wonderful job with this - it looks warm and cozy and just right--and I wish you the very best for success with this project. (What's the next book about?) ~Howard B.

This was, by far, one of the best children's books I've read and I've read many. As a teacher I am hoping that the school budget will allow us to acquire copies for the district. "I can see all the Talent." ~Lauren W.

You did a great job with this children's book. I love how you captured the voice of the child. I thought about how I could/would read this book to a child and it seemed to me that you provided opportunities to take the words and reference one of the illustrations, to create a side story. I think you have a chance to grow your book into a follow up book that could bring another message. ~Maria R.

It was a nice story and perfect for parents ready to have a child, especially there second. I would have liked an ending were the older son bonded stronger with the younger and admiring the younger looks. Maybe the following book. ~FF

We Have a New Baby at Our House is a great book for all children, but especially great for children with a new sibling. It is a book for all ages; it is about family, it teaches children it is natural to have a lot of different feelings when a new baby comes into their home. Big Brother looks forward to Garrett coming home, he is thinking of all the fun they will have together. Big Brother sometimes feels left out and that is ok, because he learns he is just as important as Garrett when his Dad tells everyone they have two sons. Big Brother shows empathy for Mom having a funny looking baby. Big Brother learns about sharing, not just him sharing with Garrett, but Garrett shares with him. Big Brother feels good when he accomplishes something on his own and feels good when he helps Garrett build blocks or when he and Garrett build a snowman together. We Have a New Baby at Our House is a great book about family, feelings, anticipation, sharing and accomplishments. It is about a new baby, a lot of firsts and a new adventure. ~Sheila W.
